quotes have been taken from their original context to continue inspire, encourage, humor and sometimes scare you. my original DON"T QUOTE ME quote changed, recently. it's amazing how much a person's perspective changes within a few months and from day to day. the original quote went like this...

"I alway knew i wanted to be somebody, now i know i should have been more specific." -- Lily Tomlin

i loved it and still do. it served it's purpose to reflect my quirky side, more relatable, less serious. i decided to change it because this is where i am now and it's more relevant to me after 14 years of service, second hand to the navy at military man's side. i'm still quirky and relatable, though.

in no particular order, my favorite naval quotes are...

"submariner wife, toughest job in the navy." -- anonymous

"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'" -- JFK

"The Navy has both a tradition and a future--and we look with pride and confidence in both directions." -- Admiral George Anderson, CNO, 1 August 1961.

"Damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead!" -- Admiral David Glasgow Farragut c. 1864

"Don't give up the ship!" -- Captain James Lawrence c.1813

"Of all the branches of men in the forces there is none which shows more devotion and faces grimmer perils than the submariners." -- Sir Winston Churchill

"No one has done more to prevent conflict - no one has made a greater sacrifice for the cause for Peace - than you, America's proud missile submarine family. You stand tall among our heroes of the Cold War.” -- General Colin Powell

"In each submarine there are men who, in the hour of emergency or peril at sea, can turn to each other. These men are ultimately responsible to themselves and each other for all aspects of operation of their submarine. They are the crew. They are the ship." --The Submariner's Creed (Excerpt)

finally, this is in reference to a spouse and pertains to all branches...

"If they wanted you to have one, you would have been issued one." -- anonymous (you better believe no one wanted to claim this one. can you blame him?)

now, i've left you with some words to inspire, encourage, humor, and hopefully, enlighten you.
